About Us.
Welcome to Squirrelwood Designs. We are a small family run business based in the Staffordshire Moorlands. Our values are centered around handcrafted one off designs to last a lifetime and ultimately become family heirlooms.
Sustainability is of paramount importance to us that's why we source the majority of our raw materials locally to our Staffordshire workshop. All of our designs are made using traditional hand tools involving many hours of hand preparation and finishing.
Every design is unique. All hardware is UK made either in our workshop or supplied by a sole UK manufacturer.
We invite you to visit our Etsy shop to browse and purchase the current items available for sale. We also welcome inquiries for bespoke items, designs can be fully customised and further details provided. Don't hesitate to contact us for any queries or questions. Please note that we make items upon your request and the placing of your order.
This means that we generally quote between 4 to 6 weeks for such items. However we aim to maintain a small exclusive amount of products available for immediate purchase in our Etsy shop.

Sourcing Materials.
All of our woods are from local suppliers, and handpicked for the best possible usage for that piece.
Our hardware is from the best UK fittings manufacturer Fine Box Hardware.
Our lining material is either the highest quality faux suede or finest English velvet sourced from a family run Cheshire mill.
Finishing.
After construction our pieces go onto a lengthy process of hand finishing, using a variety of oils and waxes, lacquer products are sometimes used. We usually create a finish that is generally termed smooth satin although higher gloss finishes can be requested if preferred on bespoke pieces.
Designs.
We take our cue from nature and draw inspiration from our surroundings. Both contemporary and traditional designs are created and always with the aim of making something both beautiful and extremely usable. Of course bespoke designs focus on individual requirements and we endeavor to do our utmost to make your vision our creation.
